WHO AM I?

From under my father’s wing, I developed my interest in all building forms. He was a master carpenter, as was my grandfather. From detailed sketches to large construction projects, he was a well of creativity.
As a teenager, I got a start with SISK Construction where I immediately secured the most interesting position. I was responsible for the hook of the tower crane on the construction of a
large pharmaceutical plant. From here, I was privy to every move, observing and communicating with engineers, steel erectors, site managers and all the tradesmen.

My next building adventure happened while holidaying in West Kerry, where I happened to meet the majority owner of the Great Blasket Island. He gave me a test project of converting an old stone building into a toilet and shower block. This was successful and led to me securing the contract for complete renovation/rebuild of 5 historic houses. This involved liaising with the Office of Public Works, as one of the houses was Peig Sayer’s home. Everyday was an exciting adventure with difficult access, no electricity and heavy materials like timber and natural slate being delivered by helicoptor. I finished this job in 1999.

From there, I hooked up with European renowed organic architect Max van Huut, who had bought a site in Dunquin, Co. Kerry, on which I built his holiday home. It was from here, I set up
my own company called P.E.R.C. Construction – Passive, Extend, Renovate, Convert – and I thought I’d save the world with it but the crash in 2008 provided me with my biggest lesson to date.
Following this event, I narrowed everything down to work on my own and this has led to me here now.
Thank you.
Noel
